Rent Assistance Will Be Available at Forsyth Fun Fest on Saturday

Forsyth Fun Fest on Saturday will feature fun activities and information on county services, including Rent/Utilities Assistance for low-income residents. Those applying for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) are reminded to bring the required documentation.

Social Services staff will be assisting with ERAP applications at the Fun Fest on Oct. 16, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Human Services Campus, 799 N. Highland Avenue. ERAP offers financial assistance to low-income residents who are behind with rent or utilities during or due to COVID-19. For information on the specific requirements for ERAP, visit Forsyth.cc/ERAP. Residents can also apply online or by calling 1-855-838-6776.

Residents applying for the program should bring:

  • Identification for applicant and co-applicant (if any). Photo ID is preferred, such as a driver’s license, state ID card, military ID card, or passport. Other forms of ID can also be used, including birth certificates, Medicaid or Medicare card, a signed Social Security card or an ID card issued by employer or religious organization/place of worship.
  • Proof of income: Can be pay stubs for the last 30 days, 2020 W-2 form, award letters for SSI, SSDI or child support, or a self-written statement of income.
  • Your lease agreement.
  • For rental assistance, an eviction notice, or statement or bill from your landlord or utility company showing what you owe.
  • A letter or termination, or self-written statement of financial hardship.
  • For utilities assistance, utility bills showing amounts due for each month of assistance. The bill must include the household address and one household member’s name.

Fun Fest is an opportunity for Forsyth County Government to connect with the community and for residents to learn about county services, some of which will be offered at the event.

Fun Fest will feature information on other benefits, services and county jobs, voter registration, flu shots, COVID vaccinations, STD testing, and blood pressure checks. There will also be a bookmobile, a digital library demo, an ambulance tour, a fire truck, a sheriff vehicle, disc golf demonstrations, food trucks, raffles, giveaways, Zumba, music, and fun activities for kids. Costumes are welcomed.
