Chaplain Davis has served as the Chaplain and Crisis Counselor for the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office since 1988. His combined years of ministry experience include pastoral care and crisis intervention services to local churches, hospitals and law enforcement chaplaincy. Chaplain Davis also provides counseling and training to clergy, mental health workers and other caregivers. He has trained several Clergy Response Teams, volunteers capable of providing on-call professional assistance to local and state law enforcement agencies with death notifications and other traumatic incidents.
Since 1993, Chaplain Davis has served as a Specialized Physical Fitness Instructor with the NC Justice Academy and has used this experience to help develop a Wellness Program for the Sheriff’s Office to foster better individual and organizational health among law enforcement officers. He served for many years with the Wellness Resources Team, formerly the CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) component of Forsyth County’s Special Operations Response Team (SORT) which has responded regionally to various disasters. He has received advanced (CISM) training from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and the National Organization of Victim Assistance (NOVA). He has also completed the Pastoral Crisis Intervention Train-the-Trainer course with ICISF.
Chaplain Davis was awarded the Chaplain of the Year Award in 2009 by the National Sheriff’s Association. Glenn holds a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and has had additional post-graduate training including Clinical Pastoral Education from the School of Pastoral Care at WFBMC.
Chaplain Davis also serves on the Advisory Board for Vigils for Healing, an interfaith community ministry comprised of volunteer clergy and laity who facilitate healing in neighborhoods affected by homicide. He has also completed Intentional Interim Ministry Training and has led workshops on community crisis response, critical incident stress management, death notification and traumatic grief for many professional groups, including the International Conference of Police Chaplains, school counselors, Victim Assistance Networks, the Southern Baptist Convention's Disaster Relief personnel, law enforcement agencies, WFUBMC’s Annual Trauma Conference, pastoral care staff and other hospital chaplains, Motor Sports/NASCAR chaplains, Hospices, and ministerial associations.
