Corporal J. Gilbertson has recently been awarded the “Top DWI Arrests” for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). During 2009, Corporal Gilbertson made 26 DWI arrests within Forsyth County. Sandra Tackett, Community Action Site Leader for Forsyth and Stokes counties, presented the award to Corporal Gilbertson.
MADD is a non-profit organization that seeks to stop drunk driving, support those affected by drunk driving, prevent underage drinking, and overall push for stricter alcohol policy. The Irving, Texas based organization was founded in 1980 by Candice Lightner after her 13-year-old daughter was killed by a drunk driver. MADD has evolved into one of the most widely supported and well-liked non-profit organizations in America.
Corporal Gilbertson has been employed by the FCSO since 1994. He has worked at the Detention Center, Civil Division and Patrol Division. Corporal Gilbertson has been a member of the Sheriff’s Response Team and is a certified K-9 handler currently assigned to the Patrol Division. Before his employment with the FCSO, Corporal Gilbertson served 10 years with the United States Marine Corps from 1984-1994.
